With over 180 attendees and over $145,000 in donations, the Forward Lymphoma event with Coach Bob Knight was a huge success. To view photos from the event, click here.

Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
David T. Yang, MD is an assistant professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Wisconsin and is the medical director of the molecular diagnostics laboratory. After moving from Hong Kong, he spent most of his youth Canada where he completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University and subsequently attended medical school at Loma Linda University in California. Dr. Yang is trained in Internal Medicine, Pathology, and Hematopathology. Prior to joining the faculty, he completed a two year lymphoma research fellowship through the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center and University of Wisconsin Department of Pharmacology. In his spare time you might find him fly fishing around Madison, chasing after his two boys, or overindulging in cheese.
As the medical director of molecular diagnostics, a large part of Dr. Yang’s job involves monitoring the performance of laboratory tests that diagnose disease through analysis of DNA. These same techniques are also used in his research, where under the mentorship of Dr. Shigeki Miyamoto at the University of Wisconsin, he began investigation into the critical role of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling in mantle cell lymphoma. Findings from this study have led to current efforts to screen for potent inhibitors of this cancer survival pathway. Through funding from Forward Lymphoma, Dr. Yang is also utilizing state of the art technology to find markers in mantle cell lymphoma that can be reliably detected and provide an accurate prediction of how the tumor will behave. Such prognostic markers are an essential tool for optimizing therapy based on the unique characteristics of each individual patients’ tumor.
